Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Self-Drive Uganda Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kitgum.
Pick up will be at 7:00 am and make an early start on your journey to Kitgum. Kidepo national park is far placed – northeast of Uganda, bordering Kenya to the east and South Sudan to the North. Have an Overnight at Kitgum as it’s a long journey to drive up to the park in one day. Dinner and overnight at Boma Guest House.
Day 2: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park, Game Drive.
In the morning after breakfast, the guide will drive you to Kidepo Valley National Park. Have lunch and after embark on a game drive in Kidepo valley in anticipation of seeing herds of buffalos, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs. Kidepo Savanna lodge.
Day 3: Morning game drive and hot springs visit
Drive to the Narus Valley on a fascinating game drive, where you will spot several animals like Elephants, Antelopes, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes and various bird species. You might as well spot the rare cats such as the cheetahs, and the vast herd of Buffaloes, since the Narus area has water and plenty of green grass to feed from.
Return to the Lodge for Lunch, relax and drive to Kidepo Valley to visit the hot springs, that by chance may also spot the giant Ostriches.
Note that This area experiences Seasonal rivers which may cause many interruptions during the wet season.
Drive Back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Community Experience with the IK people and other communities
On day 3, your adventure takes you to the IK Community, where you will integrate with the most reserved people who confine in a caged/fenced village to stay far away from wild animals and intruders. You will enjoy their traditional dances, through which they pass on their cultural customs and history to people who visit them. Return for lunch and later visit a few Karamojong homesteads to have an opportunity to interact with the elders as well as; learn cultural customs and experiences.
Return to the Lodge for Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Drive Back to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Start your day in Kidepo with a morning game drive after breakfast and drive to Gulu arriving in time for lunch. Continue then to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for about 3 hours and arrive in the afternoon. You will check in to your hotel, relax and wait for dinner, as you prepare to complete your round trip
Day 6: Rhino Tracking & Departure
Rise early for Rhino tracking! After your breakfast, You will drive to the sanctuary for briefing, after then you will proceed, for Rhino tracking, which may take about 2-4 hours, plus an inclusive 1 hour of interacting with them. Return to the centre and later proceed to Kampala to catch up with your flight.
