7 Days Self drive Safari in Uganda  Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Murchison falls national park

Pick up your car from the hotel or Entebbe international airport, and proceed with your self-drive safari to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino Tracking. Tracking may take about  3 hours, after then you will head for lunch in any Masindi hotel hotels in the Masindi district. You will reach Murchison falls in the evening, and proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise

self-drive Uganda car rentalEnjoy your breakfast and head for a game drive where you will spot different wildlife like herds of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes and bee-eater among others. Have lunch and return for an afternoon boat ride to the bottom of the falls where the water squeezes itself out of the narrow rock. You will spot crocodiles, hippos, elephants and other animals at the river bank drinking water. You will then go back to the lodge for an overnight and dinner at the lodge

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Have breakfast, and then drive to Kibale national park for chimpanzee tracking. You will drive via Hoima which offers impressive views of Lake Albert and then continue for Lunch.  Kibale national park contains a diverse array of landscapes and a variety of mammals and bird species. Kibale Forest national park is home to many chimpanzees and has a habituation centre for chimpanzees. On arrival at Kibale national park, you will check in with the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzees tracking

4x4 seld drive uganda chimp trekkingAfter your morning breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of conducting chimpanzee tracking.  With a ranger guide, head into the jungle, to look for chimpanzees, you might also encounter other species such as bush pigs, elephants, blue monkeys as well as various bird species. Your will return to the lodge for lunch and later on go for nature walks at Bigodi Swamp in the nearby community. Dinner and overnight at the same lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Have your morning breakfast, and then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will drive through Queen Elizabeth, and via the Isasha sector, that’s popularly known for tree-climbing Lions. You may or may not spot these incredible tree climbing Lions, and have lunch en route.  You will reach the lodge and check in your lodge as you wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Experience

Wake up early for breakfast, and drive to the park headquarter for briefing. You will be guided on the regulations on gorilla trekking, and be assigned a gorilla family and a group with whom you will trek gorillas. After here, you will head into the thick forest to search for the gorillas, which might take about 2- 8 hours, depending on how far they have moved and the gorilla family to be tracked. Upon encounter, you will spend a maximum of 1-hour staying face to face with the gorillas, and later one return to the headquarters to receive your certificate. Return to the lodge for lunch, and after head for Batwa cultural experience if you still have time.

Day 7: Transfer to Kampala.

Take an African cup of coffee and set off for Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. You will have lunch with lunch en route and then drop the car at the airport or hotel.
