These 3 days Uganda Gorilla Trekking self-drive safari in Bwindi National park brings you eye to eye with the mountain gorillas. Considered a UNESCO World Heritage site, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park is in the southwestern region of Uganda, measuring a total area of 321km2. The home of about 450 mountain gorillas lies at an altitude between 1160m to 2507m above sea level.
This 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking self-drive safari may begin from either Entebbe international Airport or Kigali Kigali. Yet driving time from Kigali to Uganda is quite a shorter driving distance into Uganda while driving from Kampala/Entebbe may take about 8 – 9 hours to southern Uganda into Bwindi national park.

Detailed Itinerary of the 3 days Uganda Gorilla tour
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Upon arrival, you will pick up your rental car from the Airport or any hotel at Entebbe or Kampala and drive Southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park, with a stopover at the equator to experience both the southern and Northern hemispheres, and later on, stop in Mbarara town for lunch. You will drive via the highway sights of many fresh fruits and vegetable stalls, set up along the roads. On your way, you will drive to the crafts and drum makers shop at the equator, and continue with a scenic view of Mbarara and the park. Arrive in the Late evening and check in to your preferred hotel
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking and Cultural Walk.
Today early morning you will drive from the lodge and transfer to the briefing point at 7 am before you start your gorilla trek at 8 am. You will be welcomed by the Uganda wildlife authority rangers who will give you seats until the time of briefing as you register with the ranger on duty, who will as well assign you a gorilla family.
Shortly after, the ranger guide will brief you about the trekking experience in the park and how you should behave with nature and the people. You will then be assigned a group and a gorilla family to trek after which you will start the walk into the forest. Depending on the position of the gorilla family, you might trek for about 2-8 hours, including 1 hour of face-to-face contact with the allocated gorilla family. Return to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificate, and drive back to the Lodge for Lunch.
In the evening, head for a cultural walk in the nearby Batwa (Pygmies) community, where you will be entertained and given tales of their unique culture.
Day 3: Transfer to Kampala.
Take your breakfast and journey back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator for photography. Lunch en-route, arriving in the late afternoon and you will drop your rental car at your hotel and proceed for dinner and overnight or drip it to the Airport and head to catch up with the departure flight.
