12 Days Uganda Self-drive Safari: This 12-day self-drive safari in Uganda takes you for Rhino tracking, wildlife viewing, gorilla trekking, and chimpanzee tracking.

This 12 Days Uganda Self drive Safari starts and ends in Kampala. It kicks starts with White Rhino Adventure at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary; Game Drives & boat cruise in  Murchison falls National Park, Chimpanzee tracking and habituation in Kibale Forest  National Park; tree climbing Lions in Isasha at Queen Elizabeth National park, Double gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and boat cruise at Lake Bunyonyi.

Day1: Kampala to Murchison Falls(White Rhino Viewing)

Have breakfast in your lodge and after drive through the famous Luwero triangle and stop over in Masindi town for lunch. Thereafter, drive to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest protected area in Uganda, with 3.840 Kms on the way.  you will have a stopover at Nakitoma for Rhino viewing at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. Lunch en route and reach the park in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Murchison River lodge/ red chilli hideaway.

Day 2: Game drive & Boat ride.

Have breakfast, and later on, go for a game drive and expect to spot Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Bushbucks, Lions and a variety of bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch and after in the afternoon prepare for a boat cruise on the river Nile up to the bottom of the falls where the 40-meter wide river Nile squeezes itself through a seven-meter narrow gorge. You might spot aquatic wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks and Uganda Kobs and bird species including goliath herons, Egyptian geese, pelican bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork along the shores of the River. Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park.

Take an en-route drive from Murchison to Kibale forest via Southwest to experience the Albertine Escarpment of the Western Rift Valley. Lunch en route, and later on drive to Fort portal with a panoramic view of undulating and fabled Mountain Rwenzori. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at Kibale primate lodge/Kibale forest camp. Meal plan half board.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest-Bigodi wetland.

Head to the park headquarters, after breakfast for briefing and later on depart for the chimpanzee tracking forest walk. Besides chimpanzees, you might also find other primates such as red velvet, white and black Columbus monkeys, Blue monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and grey-cheeked Mangabey chattering and swinging through the ancient forest trees. Chimpanzee tracking can take about 2-8 hours, plus an inclusive 1 hour of close interaction with them. Return to the lodge for lunch and go for a swamp walk in the Bigodi wetland to spot wildlife like Sitatungas, birds the rare shoe bill. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, Meal plan: F/B

Day 5: Chimpanzee habituation.

On this day you will start very early in the morning when the chimpanzees leave their nests and start following them. You will spend a full day with them, and see them interacting, feeding, playing, and how they look after their young ones among others. You will spend at most 4 hours with the chimpanzees. On this day you will become content that we share 98.7% of our DNA. Dinner and overnight as above

Day 6: Kibale-Queen Elizabeth National Park- Boat Cruise

Embark on your drive to Mweya through the crater lakes region, take an en-route game drive as you enter the park and check in at Mweya lodge/Bush lodge. Have Lunch and thereafter leave for the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to view the wildlife from close quarters as they cool off along the shores of the Channel that connects the Ramsar site, Lakes George, to Lake Edward. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at mweya safari lodge/bush lodge. Meal plan: F/B.

Day 7: Game drive in Isasha sector (tree climbing lions) – boat cruise

Very early in the morning, the guide will drive you to Isasha in search of tree climbing lions. You will enjoy seeing them hanging up on the fig tree brunches. After, return to the lodge for relaxation/ if time allows you can go for another boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 8:- Game drive to Bwindi Gorilla Park

Head for a game drive at the Kasenyi plains in search of wildlife which includes Buffalos, Kobs, Warthogs, Elephants, Waterbucks, Lions, Hyenas, and if you are lucky leopards among others. After the game drive returns to the lodge for breakfast and thereafter drive to Bwindi through Ishasha sector where tree climbing lions can be seen again according to the luck of the day, with lunch en-route (packed) and drive to Bwindi for dinner and overnight at gorilla mist camp.

Day 9: First gorilla trekking.

Head for a briefing by the park rangers about gorilla tracking rules before our transfer to the impenetrable forest. You will go with your packed lunch boxes. The rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape. Trekking to find the gorillas may take approximately 2-8 hours depending on the time taken and terrain as well as according to the movements of these marvellous primates. Otherwise, you can go for Batwa cultural experience, in case time allows. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight, Meal plan: F/B.

Day 10: Second Gorilla Tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Just like the previous days, you will still drive to the park headquarter for a briefing by the park rangers about gorilla tracking rules before your transfer to the impenetrable forest. You will go for the second time to track another group of gorillas.  You will trek with gorillas, and on finding the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them and have a chance to interact with them. After lunch, drive to Lake Bunyonyi.  Dinner and overnight at Arcadia cottages.

Day 11: Boat cruise  and  community/Batwa at lake Bunyonyi

In the morning, you will have a boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi after your breakfast. Bunyonyi in the local language means many birds, it is home to many beautiful birds, and you will enjoy watching them as you cruise on one of the deepest lakes in Uganda. Day 12: Bunyonyi-Kampala.

In the morning you will embark on your vehicle and drive back to Kampala, En route, you will have a stopover at the equator at payable. Lunch Enroute. The guide will take you to your hotel/airport for your flight back home.
