4×4 Self Drive Uganda car hire requirements Uganda are the following documents to be presented at the time of Car Hire for Self Drive, we Shall Need a Photo Copy of your Passport and an International Driving Permit.
1. Passport.

2. Driver’s License
The UK, USA and European Countries driving Permits are Allowed to drive in Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya plus Tanzania for 3 Months and 4×4 Self Drive Uganda will have a look at the Original Driving Permit and the Photocopy which they Retain on the Car Rental Agreement.
3. International Driver’s Permit
Although not compulsory at 4×4 Self Drive Uganda this is recommended for everyone driving in foreign countries like Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi.
4. Comesa Stickers & Yellow Card
If you’re travelling from Uganda across borders vehicles should bear a comesa Stickers Yellow Card which designates that they are foreign vehicles from other East African Countries Except for Tanzania you will need to buy a Local Insurance Sticker and South African Countries.
5. Yellow and Red Reflective Warning Triangle
In Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya and Tanzania a set of two yellow and Red warning triangle stickers are required if towing a trailer; one in the front of the vehicle (on the bumper) and one in the rear of the trailer.
6. Vehicle Registration/Vehicle License Papers(For Boarder Crossing)
A certified copy of vehicle registration/vehicle license papers is acceptable at the border posts. Must be accompanied by a letter from 4×4 Self Drive Uganda authorizing you to take the vehicle across the border, and must indicate dates. Both the Company letter and license papers should be signed.
7. Letter of authority
If you are travelling in a rented car from 4×4 Self Drive Uganda across borders, you will have a letter from 4×4 Self Drive Uganda permitting you to take the vehicle out of the country. You do not need a police clearance for this.
8. Driving Speed.
For Self Drive Travelers that Hire Cars from 4×4 Self Drive Uganda, The Driving Speed differs from Nation to Nation and Be Kneel Like in Uganda the Max speed is 80km/hr high Ways and Trading Center is 50km/hr, The Same for Kenya and Tanzania and Rwanda max is 60km/hr and trading Centers 50km/hr the Same to Burundi and 4×4 Self Drive Uganda is not liable for Fine on traffic Roads.
Vehicle and Border Post info:
4×4 Self Drive Uganda will require you to hand in the Exit Confirmation Cards showing that the car has exited the foreign Country it was in and Failure to Produce them the Company will fine you and it will have to travel back to those countries you passed through to clear the Car from the System like Rwanda side it will be USD 70 while Kenya and Tanzania amount to USD 100.
Time of Stay of the Vehicle in a foreign country:
For Rwanda, the Car will have a valid period of 14 Days from the Day it enters Rwanda and the Same Applies for Kenya and Tanzania after which you will have to drive the car back to Border Customs for it to be Renewed Failure to do that you will be fined USD 50.
