Trip overview
Drive to Usambala mountains in Northeast part of Tanzania to witness the diversity of the area’s ecosystem. After Usambala, drive to Sadani for the view of the 4 out of 5 big five namely lions, African bush elephants, Cape buffaloes and leopards before driving to Kilimanjaro Mountain for hiking and wildlife view.
Continue to Arusha for relaxation and refreshment before proceeding Tarangire national park and Ngorongoro national park for game drive and bird viewing. Then spend some time at Serengeti to witness the great migration of the wildebeest.
Proceed to Musoma city for boat cruising, fishing and relaxation before crossing over to Masai Mara for further wild beast appreciation and a view to Africa’s big five. Have a break at Kisumu before crossing to Uganda and visit Jinja city in the east for rafting and tubing.
After some time at jinja, go to Uganda’s largest conservation area in Murchison falls National Park. Then enjoy some water at lake Albert Butyaba. The safari will continue to Kibale national park, the home to the endangered Chimpanzees and other primates. You will proceed to Rwenzori national park to hike Muhoma. Then Queen Elizabeth national park, the most visited park in Uganda for the game drive.
Visit Bwindi National Park the home to the endangered mountain gorilla. Freshen up at Lake bunyonyi before crossing over to Rwanda to visit the famous volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking (if you need more experience) and hiking of Diana fossil tombs and golden monkey trekking. Go for Congo Nile trail at Gisenyi before proceeding to Nyungwe National Park for Chimpanzee trekking.
You shall cross to Democratic Republic of Congo to Bukavu National Park for the lowland gorilla trekking before ending your trip at Kigali and drop the car there for your flight back home
From Day1 to Day 2: Arrive at Der-er-salaam, do city tour then transfer to Usambala mountain
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Der-er-salaam international airport you will be welcomed by our representative who will deliver to you your safari car (in case of self-drive) or deliver you to you designated driver/ guide.
The guide will take you through the highlights of your itinerary. Depending on the time of your arrival, the guide will either drive you to your designated accommodation or he will take to the beach to have a feel of the Tanzania fresh air and beach life as you prepare for your long safari.
On your second and third days, we shall take you through Der-er-salaam visiting places like Tanzania state house, Askari monument. Where you will learn about Der-er-salaam colonial past, relax in the peaceful surroundings of the Botanical Gardens, home to a diverse range of plant species.
visit the Tingatinga Arts Cooperative Society to Witness the creation of beautiful Tingatinga paintings. A unique and vibrant Tanzanian art form and finally explore the Dar es Salaam Zoo. Enjoy a day with the family at the zoo, which houses a variety of animals and birds before driving off to Usambala mountain
Day 3 to Day 5: Hiking Mountain Usambala, transfer to Sedani National Park
After a briefing, you will be assigned a guide and porters who will guide you and help you to carry your belongings during this three-day hiking. Even though the activity is a bit challenging the achievement is worthy bearing those challenges.
Porters are always paid for independently by you (It is advised to pay them 10 dollars per day, but you can give them more). Always go through the pack list to ensure that you come with all the requirements and make sure to carry enough water during the hike. After the hike, you drive to Sedani National Park
Day 6 to Day 8: Game drive, natural walk at Sedani National Park and transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park
Today you start early for your first game drive in the Sedani National Park. The National Park has a great variety of animal species and Bird species. Most of the animals you are likely to encounter include Lions, cape buffalo, antelopes, elephants and many more.
You will also be able to spot various birds including greater flamingo, lesser flamingo, crested francolin and many more. For those small animals that you might have missed out, you will be able to spot them during the guided natural walk. Where you will help you to reach places where the car cannot reach.
You will be assigned an armed ranger to ensure your safety against any possible charging animal. As the name goes where “where the bush meets the beach”. You will be able to enjoy some beach life at Indian ocean to sign off before signing off to Kilimanjaro National Park
Day 9 to Day 11: Materuni, Waterfall and swimming, Kilimanjaro Coffee plantation, Kikuletwa Hot springs, Moshi
At Kilimanjaro national park, you will be able to hike Materuni waterfall for a breathtaking view and swimming. Tour Kilimanjaro coffee plantation where the guide will take you through the coffee making process from harvesting to the point of drinking.
Then continue to Kikuletwa Hot Spring where you will be able to witness the naturally boiled water. You will be able to cook an egg within ten minutes using this water. Then end with touring Moshi where you will be able to be cycling through the forest and experience the village life of Chagga people. Then proceed with your adventure to Arusha city.
Day 12 to Day 14: Maasai cultural village tour, Shanga glass and weaving workshop, vibrant nightlife and horse riding
At Arusha city, you will start by visiting Maasai cultural village for greater understanding of the Maasai people culture, then go to Shanga glass and weaving workshop that employ over 50 disabled Tanzanian people then after you will go horse riding at arusha national park before joining the locals for the nightlife of arusha to have the experience of Tanzanians enjoy their money. After all that at arusha, we shall head to Tarangire National Park to continue with your adventure.
Day 15 to Day 17: Game drives, Bird watching, Nature walks and Sightseeing at Tarangire National Park
Start with the game drive to explore the park and see wildlife, then enjoy seeing a diverse range of beautiful and rare bird species that call the park their home. After all that, with the help of experienced guide and armed ranger, go for the natural walk to discover the small creatures that you can not see while on game drive.
The natural also brings you closer to the animals as you won’t be following the gazetted routes for the game drive. As you are doing all that, you will be enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the park. After all that, you shall continue to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro National Parks for more enjoyment
Day 18 to Day 20: Game drive, fishing and boat cruise at Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro National Park
Whatever you will miss at Tarangire national park, you will catch it at Ngorongoro National Park. Ngorongoro is the home to the Africa big five that you will be able to encounter after the drive, you will go to Lake Manyara National Park for fishing. The fishing is guided by the experienced guide who will guide on how to fish.
The rule is catch and release however you will be allowed to go with one fresh fish for your supper. It has been a stressing journey therefore it is a good idea to refresh a bit through boat and enjoy the freshness of Lake Manyara. After that we shall proceed to the home of great migration at the famous Serengeti National Park
Day 21 to Day 23: Game drive, wildebeest, Hot air balloon natural walk at Serengeti National Park
How will it be a Tanzanian best safari without visiting Serengeti National Park, the home to wildebeest and game drive. You will be able to witness the great migration as the wildebeest will be moving either toward or from Masai Mara in Kenya.
Meet the African big five and witness the predator-prey interactions while at the park. Hot air balloon will add to your experience as it will give you an aerial view of the park and its wildlife. Then go for the natural walk to encounter the tiny animals that game drive and hot air balloon will not enable you to clearly see. From there, we shall proceed to Musoma for more activities.
Day 24: Beach life, Lake Victoria view at Musoma
After adventuring Serengeti, go to eastern shore of Tanzania Lake Victoria Have a feel of Musoma town beach where you will enjoy white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and stunning lake views. Musoma Town Beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and other beach activities that you will enjoy for that day. After cross over to Masai Mara in Kenya to continue with the wildlife adventure.
Day 25 to Day 28: Game drive, wildebeest, Hot air balloon and cultural visit at Masai Mara National Park
Now that we have exhausted the best of Tanzania, let us cross over to Kenya to continue with our adventure of East African uniqueness. The great migration does not stop at Tanzania, it also crosses over to Masai Mara in Tanzania.
Where you will continue to observe the braveness of nature as wildebeest tries to look for the green pasture as you also enjoy the predator-prey interaction. You will be able to participate in the park game drive with a clear trail that are established within Masai Mara.
You will also participate in hot air balloon to have an aerial view of the park and its wildlife. Then we continue to the cultural safari to get the in depth understanding of Masai people and their tradition. You will be assigned a local guide who will take you through the Masai culture and norms. You will also have a chance to participate in Masai traditional dance, storytelling and other activity.
Day 29: Explore Ndere Island National Park at Kisumu
The visit to the island will come with a beautiful scenery with a distant view of Homa hills to the south, Mageta island to the East and the imagination of Kampala beyond southwest horizon. The air and lake breeze leave one with feeling of freshness and buoyancy beyond imagination. The we shall continue to Jinja city in Easter Uganda.
Day 30 to Day 31: Jinja city tour
During your Jinja city tour, you will go to the source of River Nile, do white water rafting at Nile River, continue with tubing. After all that we shall go for a jinja city tour to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Basoga people who are the native of the city, after exploring the kyabazinga city as Jinja best known, we shall head to Murchison falls National Park
Day 32 to Day 35: Game drives, Hot air balloons, Sport fishing, Birding at Murchison falls national park
Visit the largest conservational area in Uganda in form of Murchison falls National Park. You will have a game drive to encounter the 4 out of 5 Africa’s big five. On the game drive you will also be able to see various bird species that call the pack home.
The hot air balloon will give you an aerial view of the park and wildlife and come with a different experience. The safari will continue with sport fishing that will be led by an experience fishing guide. The rule is catch and release however you are allowed to take away one fish for your dinner. Now that we have worked heard up to here, let us have some relaxation at Lake Albert Butyaba and refuel for our continuing adventure
Day 36 to Day 37: hot springs, Kibiro salt garden and boat cruise at Lake Albert/ Butyaba escarpment
Butyaba escapement is surrounded with a lot of hot springs and is within a proximity to Murchison falls national park. Most of the park visitor also visit the hot spring for different reasons including healing. The water at the spring boils at 100degrees Celsius.
You will also visit Kibiro salt garden for fishing activity before proceeding to Lake albert for the boat cruise and observing the life of the aquatic animals like crocodile and hippos on top of freshening up.
Now let us head to the haven of primate, that is Kibaale national park
Day 38 to Day 40: Go for chimpanzee trekking and other primate at Kibaale forest national park
Go to Kibaale national park to trek the endangered Chimpanzee that call the park home. The park is also a haven to other unique primates like black and white colobus monkey, L’host monkey and others plus some nocturnal animals that will be found at the park. You will also enjoy the fauna of the park and the diversity of the park will be on the display. From here we shall drive to Rwenzori National Park
Day 41 to Day 43: Mahoma trail hike at Rwenzori National Park
The hiking of Mahoma trail at Rwenzori Mountain is a three-day activity. It will take you through different landscape and give you the chance to witness the eco diversity that define the park surroundings. On your hiking you will be able to encounter Mahoma lake and enjoy the breathtaking view of the beautiful scenery created by the lake. Then move to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day 44 to Day 46: Game drive, experiential game drive and natural walk
Visit the Uganda most visited Park that will lead you to encounter the Africa big five and beautiful scenery. We shall go on experiential game drive and then do a normal game drive. After the game drive, we shall be able to proceed with a game drive to have a clear view of the small animals. After all that we shall proceed to Bwindi National Park
Day 47 to Day 48: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi National Park
At Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you will be able to meet our closest relatives. You will spend a full hour while interacting and observing their social behavior. Bwindi is a home to over a half of Mountain gorillas’ population that still exist on the planet.
At Bwindi you will surely encounter these primates and go for a cultural visit to Batwa community to learn about their way of life. From Bwindi we shall head to Lake Bunyonyi
Day 49 to Day 50: boat cruise, birding, Visiting punishment island at Lake Bunyonyi
You will continue to lake Bunyonyi for relaxation on boat cruise and aquatic animal viewing. Here, you will be able to view animals like crocodiles on the showers of the lake and hippos that spend most of their time in lake waters. Then, you will proceed to punishment island where girls who got pregnant before marriage used to be dumped. Then go for birding with a guide who is an expert in bird’s species. Proceed to Mgahinga National Park
Day 51: Mgahinga for Volcano hike
On our day 51 we shall start the day by hiking Mt Sabinyo. This will give us the clear view of the surrounding and at reaching the summit of the volcano., You will be rewarded with a chance of standing within three different countries.
That is Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. The hike will las close to 8 hours. The hike can only be done from the Uganda side that is why we advise you to do it before crossing to Rwanda. Our next stop is Volcanoes national park
Day 52 to Day 54: Golden Monkey Trekking and Diana fossil tomb hiking at Volcanoes
At the famous volcanoes national Park, we shall start with golden monkey trekking that will bring us close to the endangered beautiful golden monkey in their natural habitats.
Then after we shall hike the legendary Diana fossil tomb to pay to the work well done towards the preservation of mountain gorillas and other wildlife. In the due process, we shall also be able to learn more about her work. After the hike we shall continue to Gisenyi.
Day 55 to Day 56 Gisenyi for Congo Nile trail and Natural Walk
At Gisenyi, we shall do the hiking of Congo Nile trail as a physical exercising event. With an extra reward of enjoying the beautiful scenery created by the landscape of the area. We shall continue with the natural walk to have a deeper understanding of Rwandese.
For the purpose of knowledge gain, the natural walk will be guided by a local guide who will take to the traditional places of the area. Our next stop will be Nyungwe National Park
Day 57 to Day 58: Game drive and Chimpanzee trekking
We shall start with the full day game drive where we shall be able to encounter different predators like leopard and cheetahs. You will also be able to sport herbivores like Elephant and zebra. The park is also a home to several birds that you will encounter on the drive.
Now that the drive is done, Nyungwe is a home to endangered Chimpanzees with two chimpanzee families habituated for tourist. Therefore, we shall also take the opportunity to trek these endangered species before crossing over to Congo
Day 59 to Day 61: Lowland gorilla trekking and Really chimps’ sanctuary at Bukavu
Really chimps’ sanctuary is the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in the world and is located within Bukavu National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo. You will have 100 percent guarantee of meeting these human relatives while at sanctuary.
As if that is not enough, you will continue enjoying congo while going for the lowland gorillas. They are similar to Mountain gorillas but have lighter and shorter fur compared to mountain gorillas. After Congo experience, you will drive back to Kigali Rwanda.
Day 62 to Day 64: Kigali city tour before dropping off
Enjoy the Kigali city by visiting places like Amahoro stadium, genocide museum. You will als go to canopy walk then have a feel of Rwanda nigh life before dropping the car at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
